macOS firmware engineering · OpenCore 1.0.8
A Mac, from a gaming laptop.
Optimized OpenCore UEFI bootloader configuration, ACPI AML bytecode power-gating, and custom kernel extension harmonization for ASUS ROG Strix gaming hardware on macOS Sonoma, Sequoia, and Tahoe.
A GPU macOS can’t use.Switched off at the firmware.
The laptop’s discrete NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti has no macOS driver, and left on it burns battery and heats the chassis. A custom ACPI table runs the card’s _OFF routine at boot, so only the Intel graphics stay in use.

- NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti MobileUnsupported on macOSPowered down
- SSDT-Disable_GPU_PEG0.aml_OFF
- The card is switched off electrically, so it can’t drain the battery or heat the chassis.
A laptop that wakes itself.Sleep that actually sleeps.
Sleep and wake are a classic Hackintosh weak spot. One table stops USB triggers waking the laptop instantly, a script enforces clean S3 sleep and lid-close detection, and a 15-port USB map avoids reset loops.
- SSDT-GPRWStops USB devices waking the machine instantly
- fix_sleep_pmset.shEnforces clean S3 sleep and lid-close detection
- 15-port XHCI mapCompliant USB mapping, no controller reset loops
A trackpad that won’t gesture.Native multi-touch.
The I2C trackpad needs its GPIO pin interrupts routed correctly before macOS will see it. With that patched, VoodooI2C delivers Apple’s own gestures, scrolling and palm rejection.
- 1 to 4 finger gesturesNative Apple multi-touch
- Smooth scrollingThrough VoodooI2C and VoodooI2CHID
- Palm rejectionEnabled by correct GPIO pin interrupts
- The fix is one table: SSDT-GPI0.
Function keys gone quiet.Every key does its job.
A setup script restores the physical F1 to F12 legends and media hotkeys. Lighting control is left to the native companion app, which talks to the hardware directly.
The rest of the laptop.Working too.
Audio
Speakers, microphone and headphone jack, plus the native startup chime.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Intel radios, through OCLP-Mod patching and firmware kexts.
Ethernet
Realtek gigabit, handled by RealtekRTL8111.
Display and HDMI
120 Hz with native brightness and HiDPI scaling, and 4K over HDMI.
Webcam
The built-in USB camera, with native macOS support.
Card reader
Supported through Sinetek-rtsx. Insert the card before boot or wake.
What it can’t do. AirDrop, Handoff, Universal Clipboard and Universal Control need Apple’s AWDL wireless link, which the laptop’s Intel Wi-Fi card doesn’t have.
