Apple and Google design systems.
Two ways to build an interface: Apple's translucent Liquid Glass and Google's color-led Material 3 Expressive.
Apple Liquid Glass
A translucent material for controls that float above content, so the content stays in focus.

Controls above content
Liquid Glass is for toolbars, sidebars and navigation. Content never uses it.
Adapts to what's underneath
It has no color of its own. It blurs and adjusts to the content moving behind it.
Few tinted controls
At most one or two tinted primary actions per view. Labels stay monochrome.
Monochrome Restraint
Symbols and labels switch between light and dark to stay legible on any background.
Google Material 3 Expressive
Color, shape and motion tuned for emotion, based on Google's research with more than 18,000 people.

Up to 4× Faster Focus
In Google's research across 46 studies, participants spotted key UI elements up to four times faster in Expressive designs.
Color from your wallpaper
Material 3 dynamic color builds tonal palettes from the user's wallpaper, so each device feels personal.
Rounded, grouped shapes
Large rounded corners (up to 28dp in Material 3) and pill contours group related elements clearly.
Preferred across ages
With more than 18,000 participants, Expressive designs were preferred by people of all ages, up to 87% among 18–24-year-olds.
Icon systems.
Two icon systems, side by side.
Font Awesome's fixed styles next to Material Symbols' variable axes. Change the settings to compare.
Font Awesome Icon System
Two fixed styles, Solid and Regular. Switch between them to compare.
Drawn on a grid
Each icon is drawn on a consistent grid, so strokes line up at common sizes.
Multi Weight Harmony
Consistent visual density across the solid and regular styles shown here. Light, thin, and duotone are Pro styles.
Scalable Vector Formats
Vectors stay sharp at any size.
Searchable names
Icons are named and grouped by meaning, so they're easy to find.
Google Material Symbols
A variable icon font with continuous weight, fill, and optical-size axes, set live below.
One file, four axes
Weight, fill, grade and optical size all adjust continuously from a single font file.
Outlined to filled
Switch between outlined and filled glyphs to show which item is active.
Optical size
Strokes thicken slightly at small sizes so icons stay clear.
Built for screens
Simple shapes that stay recognizable in dense mobile layouts.
Typography systems.
San Francisco and the Google Fonts web stack.
Change the cut, weight and size to see how each typeface behaves.
Apple San Francisco
Apple's system typeface. Spacing and shapes adjust with size, from small labels to large titles.
San Francisco is licensed to Apple platforms, so it renders on Mac, iPhone and iPad. On other devices this specimen falls back to Inter.
Spacing adapts to size
Tighter spacing on large titles, looser spacing on small text.
Text and Display cuts
Letter shapes change between the Text and Display cuts as size increases.
Rounded option
SF Rounded gives a friendlier tone for consumer apps.
One family across Apple devices
The same typeface runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
Google Fonts and Variable Systems
Open-source variable fonts you can load on any site, with a continuous weight range.
One file, every weight
A variable font covers weights 100 to 900 from a single file.
Open letterforms
Wide letter openings keep text readable at small sizes.
Many scripts
Google Fonts covers Latin, Cyrillic, Greek and many other scripts.
Open licensing
Most Google Fonts are open source, so designers and developers can use the same files.
